β¦ Synopsis
Axially located slots are introduced into wide strip lines in high-power beamformers to suppress the excitation of higher order modes. A ¨ariational finite-element technique is used to calculate the higher order model parameters and to e¨aluate the operation of the slot for a typical discontinuity.

## Abstract we propose a new scheme for monomode operation of microβring resonators utilizing vertical coupling. The scheme succeeds in suppressing higher order spatial modes by selectively exciting the fundamental mode of the ring. This is achieved by properly varying the material and waveguide pr
## Abstract The cutoff frequencies of higher order modes in a symmetrical strip line are calculated using the variational finiteβelement method combined with conformal mapping. Conformal mapping is used to improve the modeling of the infinite transverse extents of a strip line. Then the finiteβelem
