The homogeneous gas phase reaction between Al and 02 has been studied. The reaction proceeds via Al + 02 + A10 + 0 with a rate coefficient kl of (3 + 2) X lo-l1 ml molecule-'set-'. The data indicate no measurable temperature dependence of kl over the lOOO-1700ยฐK range investigated.

Discharge-Bow kinetic studies using NO1 chemiluminescence detection of 0 yielded a rate constant for OtSizHs of (6.Ok 1.0) x lo-r2 cm3 s-' at 295 K, where the 95% confidence interval includes both precision and accuracy. Insertion and abstraction mechanisms are discussed, and on the assumption that
## Abstract Atomic resonance absorption spectroscopy has been used to investigate the thermal decomposition of N~2~O by monitoring the formation of O atoms behind reflected shock waves in the temperature range 1490โ2490 K and at total pressures from 58 to 347 kPa, by using the mixtures of N~2~O hig
