โฆ Synopsis
The properties of high T c superconductors in terms of infrared radiation shielding for liquid helium temperature dewars are discussed. A superconductor with T c of 110 K combined with a liquid nitrogen temperature shield with an emissivity of 0.03 should produce an upper limit to the radiative heat transfer of 15 mW m-2

The thermal expansion of some advanced ceramics and well orientated Bi2Sr2-CaCu2Os+x were measured from 10 to 300K to find suitable substrates with similar levels of thermal expansion to high Tc superconductors. The length measurements were based on readings from an interferometric dilatometer with
In addition to the conventional wave of normal zone propagation, two new types of nonlinear heat waves have been predicted theoretically in high Tc nitrogen-cooled superconductors under current and the conditions under which they occur are described. These waves are characterized by a concurrent rel
