✦ Synopsis

A high-resolution excitation spectrum of gaseous YS has been recorded by laser excitation spectroscopy in a supersonic molecular beam. The YS molecules were produced by the reaction of laser-ablated yttrium atoms with CS 2 . The (0, 0) band of the A 2 P 1/2 -X 2 S / transition near 750 nm was rotationally analyzed, and a set of molecular constants is given for both electronic states.
