✦ Synopsis
The first observation of transitions in the c 'II-b 'E + system of the OH+ molecule has been achieved by fast-ion-beam laser photofragment spectroscopy. The spectrum was recorded by the detection of O+ ions which arise from predissociation of the c 'II state. The assignment of P, Q and R branches of the 3-O band is described and molecular parameters for these two vibrational levels are reported. The rotational constant for u=O agrees well with the value obtained by Merer et al. (Can. J. Phys. 53 (1975) 25 1) from an analysis of perturbations in the A 'II state. Molecular parameters for the c 'II and b 'E + states are in good agreement with those obtained from ab initio calculations of the potential energy curves.
