High-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been used as a tool to assay IMP-GMP:pyrophosphate phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT). Complete separation of the products of the enzyme-catalyzed reactions from the substrates and high sensitivity obviate some of the problems encountered when spectral assays are used. Results of divalent metal ion studies with HGPRT demonstrate the utility of the assay method. 52
