✦ Synopsis

The 400.13MHz ' H and 100.6MHz uC NMR spectra of 12 corticosteroids and related compounds were investigated and the signals assigned by two-dimensional techniques. The effects of snbstituents, carbonyl groups and epoxide formation on the chemical shifts of both nuclei are discussed in terms of intramolecular interaction and stereochemical dependence.

o-Benzenediazonium carboxylates couple with methylene-active compounds to yield hydrazo derivatives with high purity. The 'H and 13C NMR data of eleven such products are presented and analysed. The predominance of the hydrazo over the azo form is consistent with accepted criteria. Furthermore, evide

## Abstract The ^1^H and ^13^C chemical shifts, proton‐proton coupling constants, and one‐bond carbon‐hydrogen coupling constants have been obtained for 7‐azaindole, 1‐methyl‐7‐azaindole, their corresponding methyl iodide salts, and the related compound 7‐methyl‐7__H__‐pyrrolo [2,3‐__b__]pyridine.
