β¦ Synopsis
Xe lamp irradiation of various
TIOz photocatalysts suspended in an ethanol-water mixture can produce hydrogen, methane and acetaldehyde at room temperature. The quantum yield of hydrogen production was increased greatly by supporting metals or metal complexes on the TiOz surface. amounting to 38% for a Pt-TiOz photocatalyst. A mechamsm of the photocatalytic reactions is discussed_

**A group of ironβdoped novel oxides** of cerium, terbium, and praseodymium are reported to produce hydrogen at relatively low temperatures through a cycling twoβstep reaction process without catalyst. Iron doping in the oxides not only stimulates surface activity, but also lowers the reduction temp
