✦ Synopsis
Origin of the Basic Carbon Chain of F Acids
Feeding experiments with sodium [2‐^13^C]acetate on suspension cultures of Saccharum spec. show that the basic carbon chain of F acids 1 is derived from acetate units via the fatty acid pathway. Incorporation of ^13^C label was confirmed by GC/MS analysis of the corresponding tetrahydrofuran derivatives 2.
