โœฆ Synopsis

An analytical heat transfer process description with noiseless superfluid helium film boiling on heating surfaces of different geometries is presented. Final calculation relationships stipulate the knowledge of heat flux density magnitude on the interface He II-vapour An approach to the analytical calculation of the boundary thermal resistance value to heat transfer in the interface on the liquid side has been suggested, the latter permitting theoretical calculation of the heat flux density on this boundary in the long term.

The comparison of recommended calculation relations on heat transfer intensity with He II noiseless film boiling demonstrates their satisfactory agreement with all experimental results available in the literature. Criteria are given which determine the limits to which the obtained calculation relations can be applied.

A correlation is presented that describes the behaviour of time dependent recovery from film boiling in He II. In a one dimensional heat transfer experiment, the recovery time from the film boiling once heat generation stops is observed to be a function of the energy applied to the heater during fil

Pool boiling heat transfer characteristics of liquid 3He were measured for the first time using the 3He circulation system under saturated vapour pressure at about 1.5 and 2.0 K. The heat transfer surface was a flat plate of 6 mm diameter made of OFHC and set upward. The results show that the A T de

## HEAT TRANSFER THROUGH BOILING LIQUID FILMS By F. RUMFORD The rate of heat flow from a metal wall to a boiling fluid has been measured for water, roluenc, ethyl alcohol and nirric acid. It has been shown that, where more than about 10% of the feed liquid is converted to vapour, the rate of heat
