โฆ Synopsis
This paper reports an experimental study of heat transfer between an outer horizontal rotating cylinder and an inner stationary one. This geometry simulates a rotating liquid helium transfer union used in superconducting ac generators. The dependence of heat transfer with the velocity and the gap width is studied and discussed; the results are presented in terms of dimensionless parameters. Even if we have to complete our experiment with an axial temperature gradient which may slightly modify our results, we do not find such a drastic dependence as predicted by some authors.
