โœฆ Synopsis

The paFor reports results obtained during mperimantal studies of the overall mass transfer between a liquid and the walls of a type of electrochemical reactor which consists of coaxial cylinders and which associates the axial flow of electrolyte with the rotation of the inner cylinder. Three intercylinder gap widths, 2.5 mm; 5.0 mm and 7.5 mm respectively, were studied. The experimental variations of the Sherwood number Sh as a function of the axial Reynolds number Re, and of the Taylor number Ta are aualyscd, principnRy the laminar vortex regittm is covered in the experiments and empirical correlations are deduced. Two domains appear asclearly separated: one, at small Re, values is such that Sh is only dependent on Ta, the

Overall mass transfer coefficients between a liquid flowing axially in an annulus and the surface OF the rotating inner cylinder have been determined electrochemically. The experiments concern mainly the laminm vortex regime and the results show the combined effect of rotation and axial flow. The va

The paper presents and examines the experimental values of local mass transfer coefficients and shear stresses at the surface of the rotating inner cylindrical eleclrode. Their varialions with Lhe hydrodynamical parameters are similar but the test of the Chilton-Colburn analogy is made difficult by
