โฆ Synopsis
Single crystals of CePt 4 In have been studied by means of specific heat measurements performed at low temperatures (down to 60 mK) and in high magnetic fields (up to 9 T). In zero magnetic field the DC=T ratio strongly increases with decreasing temperature down to about 250 mK, where a broad maximum รฐ% 1:75 J mol ร1 K ร2 ร occurs. At lower temperatures DC=T slightly diminishes and finally saturates at a value of about 1:7 J mol ร1 K ร2 . Upon applying magnetic field the maximum in DC=TรฐTร disappears (it is not visible already in 0.5 T) and the magnitude of DC=T becomes significantly lower. We argue that the observed anomaly in DCรฐTร=T is due to some magnetic ordering of the cerium magnetic moments, in line with our previous statement on the localized character of the 4f-electrons in this compound.
