Fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FABMS) of five neat phthalates (dimethyl, diethyl, diallyl, dibutyl and dinonyl) were investigated and intermolecular alkyl transfer reactions were observed in the mass spectra. FABMS of some related compounds was also studied and the results indicate that in

✦ Synopsis
Deuterium exchange in a matrix a †ords the number of hydroxyl groups present in molecules of glycerol-O-d 3 various types of ecdysteroids in both positive and negative ionization modes. H/D exchange also allows the easy distinguishing of isomeric and isobaric compounds. It is shown that the ecdysteroids under study exchange an additional hydrogen owing to the presence of an enol form of a C6 keto group. The high extent of enolization occurring at the C22 keto functionality was observed in the pseudomolecular ion of 22-oxo-20-hydroxyecdysone.

Low-temperature fast-atom bombardment mass spectrometry (LT-FAB-MS) can extend the range of applications of FAB-MS significantly. Solvents of high volatility, either protic or aprotic, can be used as matrices for FAB-MS. For this purpose, the solution of the analyte in the respective solvent is froz
Four macrocyclic tetraimine Schiff bases containing oxamidic groups were synthesized by [2 + 2] condensation of N,N'-bis(2-aminoethyl)oxamide or N,N'-bis(2-amino-1,1-dimethylethyl)oxamide with 2,6-diformyl-4chlorophenol or 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol and characterized by elemental analyses and IR an
The time-course of the HO-induced peroxidation of soybean phosphatidylcholine (PC) liposomes was monitored over 24 h by UV spectroscopy ( A 233 nm) and by fast-atom bombardment (FAB)-MS (positive-ion mode) and FAB-tandem (mass spectrometry) techniques. At the peak of maximal oxidation, a diagnostic
