β¦ Synopsis
Guided-ion beam measurements of Kr+ + NO charge-transfer reaction cross sections are presented over a colhslon energy range of 0 08 to 16 eV (c m ) At energies below 2 eV, the charge-transfer cross section IS approximately two orders of magnitude smaller than the Langevm capture cross section and decreases with colhslon energy displaying an ET ' 4 dependence The cross section reaches a minimum at about 3 eV, increases with colhslon energy until about 8 eV, and then decreases abruptly at higher energes N+ and O+ are observed at and above then respective thermodynamic thresholds The results are discussed with respect to energy resonance and Franck-Condon models

Performance of energy resolved measurements of endothermic reaction and of collision-induced dissociation thresholds can be improved if relative or absolute cross sections are evaluated, rather than product intensities. The calculation of cross sections from measured ion intensities is shown for Fou
