Pr 0.4 Ca 0.6 Ba 2 Cu 3 O 7Àd thin films have been grown on SrTiO 3 (STO) substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The dependence of growth orientation and superconducting properties on substrate temperature were studied. As characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), good quality c-axis and a-axis orie

YBazCu307-6 single crystals of mm size were grown by two different methods, one involving solid state reaction, the other flux growth. Examination of magnetic behaviour of the crystals indicates critical currents of about I0 ~ A/cm 2.

The new bulk, melt-textured grown composite Nd,,,Y,~,Ba,Cu,O,-, , which also forms large single crystals, has the standard high-T, 123 orthorhombic structure when oxygenated and a very high critical current density in a magnetic field of 0.5 T. Both of these results were not anticipated, as the Nd a
