✦ Synopsis
We aimed to find the correlation between the structure of YBCO single crystals with their high Jc values (-105 A/cm2 at 77 K, zero magnetic field). The most remarkable feature which belongs to high-Jc crystals was found to be the presence of spirals on their surface. Detailed examination of the ion-milled crystals by TEM revealed that the dimples formed along with spiral convolutions were covered with Cu20 rediposited from the slot grid. The methodics of Moire pattern could be useful for identification of crystal defect structure in the location of dimples.
