Abstract
A novel mononuclear zinc(II) complex [ZnL(DMSO)] (1) with chelating bisoxime ligand 4,4β²βdinitroβ2,2β²β[ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol (H~2~L) was synthesized and structurally characterized by Xβray crystallography. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group Pβ1, with unit cell parameters a = 8.9730(16), b = 11.9080(18), c = 20.701(2) Γ , Ξ± = 103.893(3), Ξ² = 101.975(3), Ξ³ = 90.029(2) and Z = 4. The Zinc(II) ion is fiveβcoordinated by four N~2~O~2~ donor atoms of L^2β^ and one oxygen atom from DMSO molecule. Interestingly, the unit of cell contains two crystallographically independent but chemically identical mononuclear complexes. (Β© 2007 WILEY βVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
