✦ Synopsis

ZrO+, HfO+, and Nb$ molecular ions formed during laser-vaporization of their respective metals and/or oxides were trapped in rare-gas matrices at 4 K. X-band ESR spectra exhibited characteristic metal hypertine splittings and indicated that each ion has a 2C ground state. The derived magnetic parameters and spin characteristics for ZrO+ and Nb: are discussed relative to the corresponding neutral diatomics. Analysis of the HfW spectra was incomplete, only g, could be accurately determined.
