Comparative mapping studies in human and mouse have shown that, to date, human Chromosome (Chr) 20 is completely syntenic with distal mouse Chr 2. The structural locus for S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine hydrolase (EC 3.3.1.1) in human, AHCY, maps to 20 qter-->q13.1, and we report here that the homologous

โฆ Synopsis
DNA topoisomerase I is a highly conserved and ubiquitously expressed protein of eukaryotes. D N A topoisomerase I is indispensable in DNA transcription and replication and in the maintenance of genomic stability, relaxing D N A s u p e r c o i l s , and s u p p r e s s i n g c h r o m o s o m a l recombination (Wang 1991). In human, the gene encoding D N A topoisomerase I (TOP1) has been identified and localized to human Chromosome (Chr) 20 ( D ' A r p a et al. 1988;Juan et al. 1988;Kunze et al. 1989). The present report describes genetic mapping of two mouse topoisomerase I-related sequences (Top-1 and Top-lrs).
The chromosomal location of Top-1 in the mouse was determined with a panel of DNA samples from an interspecific cross that has been characterized for over 600 genetic markers throughout the genome. RFLVs were determ i n e d by S o u t h e r n blot h y b r i d i z a t i o n of D N A from C3H/HeJ-gId and (C3H/HeJ-gld โข Mus spretus)F I parental
