Recently, several genes have been cloned that affect plant architecture: CLAVATA 1, which controls the balance between maintenance and organogenesis in the meristem; CUC2, which separates organ primordia in the meristem; and teosinte branched 1 and cycloidea, which use growth suppression to cause mo

Abstract
Recent breakthroughs in the understanding of the genetic program that controls specification of ventral cell fate in the spinal cord and hindbrain have produced useful tools for the study of similar genetic networks in the more complex rostral regions of the central nervous system. Several research groups have elucidated key factors in the potential signaling processes, as well as transcription factors necessary for differentiation of various basal midbrain nuclei. Importantly, there has been substantial progress in understanding the genetic cascade involved in specifying dopaminergic neurons. This knowledge will be crucial in the understanding and possible treatment of Parkinson's disease. Β© 2007 WileyβLiss, Inc.

Cell communication is crucial for many aspects of growth and differentiation during the development of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Two genes, glp-1 and Zin-12, mediate a number of known cell-cell interactions. Genetic and molecular analyses of these two genes lead to the conclusion that the
## Abstract Basal cell carcinomas are can be induced by ionizing radiation, in particular in patients with the rare autosomal dominant basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS). These patients also are prone to medulloblastomas, and curative ionizing radiation therapy for the latter is followed soon by the
