Plotting fragment length against reciprocal of mobility gives a straight line over a wider range than the conventional semilogarithmic plot. Curvature can be removed by a simple correction. A method is also given for determining molecular weights from mobilities by direct calculation.

## Abstract We measured the fluorescence intensity of DNAβbound fluorescent dyes YOβPROβ1 (oxazole yellow) and YOYOβ1 (dimer of oxazole yellow) at various spermidine concentrations to determine how counterions on DNA are exchanged in the process of DNA condensation. A decrease of fluorescence inten
The counterion condensation of mono-and divalent cations on the polyanion dextran sulphate (DS) was studied by conductometry and dye spectroscopy. The measurements were analysed using the limiting law for the conductance of polyelectrolytes and the two-variable theory of G. S. Manning. There are sig
