## Abstract The kinetics of the gas‐phase decomposition of bicyclo[4.1.0]heptane has been studied over the temperature range of 708–769 K at pressures between 1 and 17 torr. Isomerization to 1‐methylcyclohex‐1‐ene, methylenecyclohexane, and cycloheptene accounts for 96–98% of the primary reaction p

✦ Synopsis
The gas phase thermal isomerization of 4-acetyl-5-methyl-isoxazole affords 3-cyano-2,4-pentanedione as the only product in good agreement with previous proposed isomerization mechanism for isoxazoles. On the other hand, kinetic parameters and MO theoretical calculations do not agree with those previously reported. An alternative reaction mechanism which explains this fact is discussed.
