โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

An experimental investigation in a conventional static apparatus of the oxidation of equimolecular mixtures 1,4โ€dioxaneโ€O~2~ has shown that 1,4โ€dioxane reacts with oxygen more readily than most hydrocarbons. Cool flames and ignitions were observed above 200ยฐC in a pressure range up to 300 torr.

The products of the slow reaction and cool flame were analyzed by gas chromatography and GCโ€MS; the slow reaction gives only CO, CO~2~, H~2~CO, H~2~, C~2~H~4~, and H~2~O.

A radical chain mechanism is suggested and discussed by using an evaluation of the rate constants of the possible elementary steps by the methods of thermochemical kinetics.

A gas chromatographic method is presented for determining from 1 to 100 lg/mL of 1,4-dioxane in toluene with purities ranging from commercial to high-purity grades. This method relies on extracting 1,4-dioxane from toluene into water. The water extract is analyzed for 1,4-dioxane content by gas chro

## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** The electrochemical oxidation of 1,4โ€dioxane at a boron doped diamond (BDD) surface on a niobium substrate anode was studied because (i) 1,4 dioxane is a resistant contaminant in wasteโ€waters and groundโ€waters which needs to be removed/oxidized and (ii) most of the curre

The slow gas-phase oxidation of tetrahydrofuran was studied under static conditions at 220ยฐC. The relative amounts of each product, if extrapolated to zero reaction time, show which are the primary reaction products, and the reaction stoichiometry was thus established. Rate constants for hydroperoxi

The reaction of nitromethane with oxygen has been studied in the temperature range (700 to 740ยฐK) in a static vessel using both g.p.c, techniques associated with an original sampling procedure [ 11 ] and spectroscopic measurements. The explosion limit, markedly lowered when compared with the case of

## Abstract Since __n__โ€hexadecane or cetane is a reference fuel for the estimation of cetane numbers in diesel engines, a detailed chemical model of its gasโ€phase oxidation and combustion will help to enhance diesel performance and reduce the emission of pollutants at their outlet. However, until
