## Abstract The gasβphase methylenation reaction between CH~3~S^+^ο£ΎCH~2~ and alkylbenzenes, aniline, phenol and alkyl phenyl ethers, which yields [M + CH]^+^ and CH~3~SH, has been studied by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTβICR) techniques and computational chemistry at the DFT level.

The kinetics and reactivity of linear C,H+ and cyclic and linear isomers of C3H2+ and C3H3+ were studied in a tandem flowing afterglow-selected ion flow tube (FASIFT). The C3Hm+ ions represent possible ionic precursors to neutral cyclopropenylidene, c-C3H2, a molecule that has been found to be one o
The reactions of o-, m-and p-benzyne anions and the phenide ion with a series of neutral reagents are described. The m-and p-benzyne anions display similar behavior towards acids, NO and , analogous to that of phenide ion but clearly di β erent from that of o-benzyne anion. The strongly basic and nu
