## Abstract γ‐Aminobutyric acid (GABA), the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter of CNS, has been consistently implicated in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. GABA is synthesized from glutamate by the enzyme glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD). Two isoforms of GAD have been identified and have b
