The long-term average spectrum of Spanish, as spoken in Mexico, was obtained for thirty subjects--fifteen men and fifteen women. To obtain the average spectrum, use was made of a digital system comprised of an FFT analyzer interfaced to a microcomputer. All data acquisition, storage and processing w

FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE AVERAGE SPECTRUM OF SPANISH
In the letter by A. Moreno, ~ attention was called to some information concerning the average spectrum of speech in Spain that is not widely known and not mentioned in our previous paper. 2 This letter gives some further results that we have obtained regarding the average speech spectrum as spoken in Mexico, which may be useful to those interested in speech spectra.
For the purposes of hearing-aid gain prescription, the average spectrum was obtained for 15 men and 15 women directly in 1/3-octave bands. Reports on l/3-octave-band speech spectra for relatively large groups of male and female talkers are few, even for English-speaking talkers? In brief, the procedure was the following: the spoken material (3 min) was recorded (Nagra IVSJ) for each talker. The microphone (B&K 4133) was located at 30 cm from the talker's mouth. Each recording was replayed and analyzed in 1/3-octave bands by bandpass filtering from 100 Hz to 12.5 kHz (B& K 2636 and B&K 1617). This procedure was controlled (via IEEE 488) with an HP217. The total average levels (extrapolated to l m) were 57"7dB (approximately 0-0002 dyn/cm z) and 56"5dB for men and women, respectively. The Leq values for each group, men and women, were 58"5 dB and 57"4 dB, respectively. The results of these analyses are shown in Fig. 1.
Since data on the statistical distribution of speech levels in 1 3-octave bands are scarce, ' ~ the statistical descriptors L1, L5, L10 .... were obtained, which give the percentage of time the speech level is above the indicated sound level. These results are shown in Fig. 2 for men and women (30 subjects).

## Abstract Including informal care in economic evaluations is increasingly advocated but problematic. We investigated three well‐known concerns regarding contingent valuation (CV): (1) the item non‐response of CV values, (2) the sensitivity of CV values to the individual circumstances of caring, a
