✦ Synopsis

Graphite vaporization induced by long pulses of near infrared laser to produce fullerenes is reported. Results of iodine photodissociation laser-driven (A= 1.315 pm, pulse length _ 150 ps) formation of Cso,,o fullerenes at various experimental conditions (number of laser shots, helium pressure, target surface shape) are summarized. In addition, laser production methods, as well as UV laser induced decomposition of fullerenes are discussed.

We show that focused laser irradiation can generate Ca^2+^ waves in differentiated PC12 cells, using highly penetrating and locally acting near-infrared femtosecond pulsed laser light. Similar to photolytic uncaging experiments, intracellular Ca^2+^ concentrations could be elevated to produce a whol
