## Book Reviews Chad was studied as the model of a tropical lake in a semi-arid region south of the Sahel Zone. This monograph is the summary of 15 years of research. The field-work had to be interrupted in 1979. Lake Chad is one of the largest lakes of Africa, smaller only than the lakes in the
