Many specialists participated in the 1983 conference in Belgium. Of the 35 papers presented, 22 were published elsewhere, explaining the fact that the 13 contributions in the Proceedings don't cover the whole spectrum of recent studies. B. C. COULL & M. A. PALMER demonstrated that field manipnlations of meiofauna for experiments concerning pollution, colonization, trophicinteractions, and organism-substrate relationships, are "exciting and provocative areasfor research".
