## Abstract In this paper, the multiband behavior of the Koch fractal monopole is considered as a function of its self‐similar geometry, height, and wire length. It is demonstrated that the outline shape and wire compression of its self‐similar geometry are primary factors in determining its multib

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel microstrip antenna constructed with a lotus‐pod pattern is presented in this Letter. It exhibits a frequency‐independent antenna after a self‐similar design. In practice, the multiband spectrum depends on the iteration of the fractal pattern. Both outward and inward iteration approaches are introduced. Experimental results with multiband spectrums and radiation patterns are presented and discussed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
