โฆ Synopsis
The missing d 1 โบ ฯฉ state has been observed for the first time and its spectroscopic parameters are consistent with the theoretical predictions of S. R. Langhoff and W. Bauschlicher, Jr. [J. Mol. Spectrosc. 143, 169 -179 (1990)]. Rotational analysis of a number of bands has been obtained and improved spectroscopic parameters have been extracted for the low-lying electronic states. The observation of several vibrational bands with v ฯญ 1 has enabled us to determine the vibrational intervals and equilibrium bond lengths for the A 3 โบ 0 ฯช , a 1 โฌ, b 1 โบ ฯฉ , d 1 โบ ฯฉ , and C 3 โธ 1 states.

Dispersed fluorescence studies on the 6 -X 6 and 6 -X 6 systems of the FeF radical have resulted in the observation of vibrational progressions for transitions to the X 6 state as well as at least two previously unobserved electronic states about 5000 cm -1 above the ground state. The states are ass
We report properties of the exact low-lying states of phenanthrene, its anion and dianion within the Pariser-Parr-Pople (PPP) model. The experimentally known singlet states of the neutral molecule are well reproduced by the model. The intensities for one and two photon absorption to various singlet
Six new electronic transitions of NiCl, recorded by high-resolution Fourier transform spectroscopy, have been studied. The identification of the states involved in these transitions has been made possible by dispersing laser-induced fluorescence at low resolution. Comparison of the results obtained
The equilibrium geometries, excitation energies, force constants, and vibrational frequencies of the low-lying electronic states X2B1, 2A1, 2B2, and 2A2 of the PF2 radical have been calculated at the MRSDCI level with a double zeta plus polarization basis set. From a comparison with the spectrum of NiF, a low-lying 2 โบ ฯฉ state is expected to lie in the first 2000 cm ฯช1 above the ground X 2 โธ 3/ 2 state of NiCl. The identification of this 2 โบ ฯฉ (v ฯญ 0) state (at 1768 cm ฯช1 ) has been carried out through the analysis of two electronic transitions 2 โธ 3/2 -2
