## Abstract Amphoteric hydroxides are found to possess a great ability to deactivate the β€œliving” ends of polydimethylsiloxane molecules. They not only prevent depolymerization but also suppress the formation of crosslinks between polymer molecules (which is due to the oxidation of methyl groups).
