Preparative methods have been developed for the synthesis of 3,7-dimethyl-l,2,5trithiacycloheptane and 4-thia-l-heptene-6-thiol from diallyl sulfide and hydrogen sulfide in a system containing an alkali metal hydroxide and DMSO.
