Abstract
Five derivatives of imidazole were found in the reaction mixture of l‐ascorbic acid and ammonia. Two of them were identified as 4(5)‐methyl imidazole, and 4(5)‐ethyl imidazole, the third one corresponded probably to 4(5)‐(2,3‐dihydroxypropyl) imidazole. The last two compounds were not identified. The same compounds were found in the reaction mixture of l‐ascorbic acid and glycine.
