✦ Synopsis


In the process of phase transformation of zeolite NaA to nepheline under hydrothermal conditions a special intermediate occurs. This is due to the high reaction rate of nepheline formation in the presence of water molecules. Consequently, the usually observed amorph-OUR material with high condensed silica does not occur as separate phase. -The intwmediate which is formed due to the destruction of the long-range order of zeolite is significantly short-range ordered. Thc phase transformation process starts at the outer surface of zeolite crystals, thus generating a diffusion barrier for sorption uptake processes.

Irii ProzeB der Phasenumwandlung des Zeolithes NaA zu Nephelin wird bei Anwendung hydrothermaler Bedingungen die Existenz einer spezifischen Zwischenphase rnit definierter Nahordnung festgestellt. Ihr Auftreten ist die Folge der hohen Bildungsgeschwindigkeit des Nephelins. Dementsprechend erfolgt der strukturelle Abbau des Zeolithgitters nicht bis zur Bildung amorphen Materials mit hochkondensiertem SiO,, das gewohnlich nachgewiesen wird. Der ProzeB beginnt an der Kristalloberfliiche und fiihrt zur Ausbildung ciner Diffiisionsbarriere fur Sorptionsvorgiinge.
