Absorption, fluorcsccncc cwtauon and emwon spectra, quantum yields, and fluorescence decay times have been measurcd for several derwauvcs of all-trans 1,6dlphenyl-1,3,5hexatriene (DPH) III a number of solvents. Emlsslon occurs from the low-lymg IA: state and the I B,* which IS at shghtly hgher energy. Accepted models for Ihe photophysics of DPH are shown 10 be mad-cquaw.
