โœฆ Synopsis

Fluorescen= Lifetimes of single viironic levels of naphthalcne valxnrr have been measured as a function of energy with a resolution of i.7 A and a DZW single photon-phase technique. Clear evidence of lifetime changes in vihronic progressions is observed which reveals a model for naphthalene which does not altow for camrnunicating states.

Recently, tluorescence lifetimes [l] and quantum yields f2] have been repoited for naphthalene vapour at 0.1 torr and room temperature. In these experiments, the bandwidths of the exciting radiation were 56 A and 10 A respectively. Although Uy and Lim
