โœฆ Synopsis

Fluorescence lifetimes of C~KSCH~,O-,'~-,~-DC~H~CII_~, C6HsCD&'C&~CHi, and CeD,CD+ have been me&wed at 77 K in rigid piasses. Very long decay times are obkerwd for aU the radicals. There is a dramatic deuterium af-.' feet upon ring deuceration; alkyl deuteration lengthens the lifetime if :%e phenyl ring is already deutcrated, but other--exhibits a G&t invckc deuterium effect. The oscillator strength uf the 'AZ * 2Bz transition is calculated to be : no larger than 8 X1O-4.

The visible absorption spectra of all the monomethylbenzyl and monofluorobenzyl rachcals in the gas phase have been studied by laser-induced fluorescence. The fluorescence lifetimes of the stronger vibronic transltions have been measured. It is concluded that, unlike benzyl itself, a single excited

Time resolved fluorescence of the benzyl, monomethylbenzy1 and dimethylbenzyl radicals trapped in rigid solvents at low temperatures has been observed using the second harmonic of the ruby laser as the exiting source. The fluorescence lifetimes of these radicals are very long (10 -7-1 Oe6 set), whic

The doublet-doublet fluorescence spectra of benzyl, pmethylbenzyl andpchlorobenzyl radicals were detected in the 450-650 nm region upon the double-pulse (248 nm-+308 nm) excitation of corresponding benzyl chlorides in hexane at room temperature. The respective fluorescence lifetimes were determined
