✦ Synopsis
Colloidal solutions of Q-Cd3P2 of different mean particle size were flashed and the changes in optical absorption recorded. An absorption band at long wavelengths in the visible and near-infrared is attributed to surface-trapped holes. A bleaching band close to the onset of absorption is attributed to excess electrons on the particles. Both bands shift to longer wavelengths with increasing particle size. These light-induced changes have lifetimes measured in seconds. Multiple flashing leads to the formation of small amounts of Cd metal on the colloidal particles.

## Abstract Triplet state formation (Φ~isc~) and properties (ε~T‐T~, τ~T~) of phthalocyanine (HPC) and zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPC) have been characterized in homogeneous solutions (1‐chloronaphthalene, 1‐propanol) and in microemulsion by investigating the variation of the transient optical density a
Photolysis of pyrophosphate and tripolyphosphate ions in aqueous solution is proposed to produce electron detachment with formation of pyrophosphate and tripolyphosphate radicals (with quantum yields Ͻ0.1 at 266 nm), respectively. Formation of P 2 O 7 и 3Ϫ is observed after photolysis of both polyph
