Abstract
As a new kind of broadband microwave component, the cutoff characteristic of a dielectric‐loaded single‐ridge waveguide is analysed by the finite‐element method. Design data for cutoff wavelength of dominant mode for different values of relative permittivity ε~r~ equal to 1.0, 5.0, 10.0, and 15.0 with varied ridge dimensions have been presented in tabulated forms. Numerical results in this paper provide an extension to the existing design data of empty single‐ridge waveguides and are considered useful in practical applications. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
