Abstract

As a new kind of broadband microwave component, the cutoff characteristic of a dielectric‐loaded single‐ridge waveguide is analysed by the finite‐element method. Design data for cutoff wavelength of dominant mode for different values of relative permittivity ε~r~ equal to 1.0, 5.0, 10.0, and 15.0 with varied ridge dimensions have been presented in tabulated forms. Numerical results in this paper provide an extension to the existing design data of empty single‐ridge waveguides and are considered useful in practical applications. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The influence of the ridge position on the cutoff wavelength of the dominant mode in a single‐ridge waveguide is analyzed by the finite‐element method. The cutoff wavelength can be adjusted by changing the ridge dimensions as well as by adjusting its position. More design data are prese
