We propose a method to find the QCD critical point at finite density calculating the canonical partition function Z C (T, N) by Monte-Carlo simulations of lattice QCD, and analyze data obtained by a simulation with two-flavor p4-improved staggered quarks with pion mass m Ο€ β‰ˆ 770MeV. It is found that

The Grand Canonical formalism is generally used in numerical simulations of finite density QCD since it allows free mobility in the chemical potential p. We show that special care has to be used in extracting numerical results to avoid dramatic rounding effects and spurious transition signals. If w

Towards a strong-coupling theory of QCD

We apply strong-coupling perturbation theory to the QCD lattice Hamiltonian. We begin with naive, nearestneighbor fermions and subsequently break the doubling symmetry with next-nearest-neighbor terms. The effective Hamiltonian is that of an antiferromagnet with an added kinetic term for baryonic "i
