✦ Synopsis

Field desorption and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometric procedures have been applied to the analysis of hydroxamate containing siderophores as their iron(II1) complexes. Molecular ion species predominate in both field desorption and fast atom bombardment spectra. The results reported demonstrate the potential of these soft ionization techniques for the characterization of novel siderophores and siderophore metabolites.
