## Abstract ## Background. Fibula free tissue transfer is routinely used for reconstruction of bony defects in the head and neck. During flap preparation, well‐vascularized periosteum is left adjacent to the proximal vascular pedicle. It is known that periosteum can have significant osteogenic pot

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The skin paddle in the fibula osteoseptocutaneous flap is thin, soft, and pliable, and it can be used for external skin coverage and intraoral linings. The flexibility of the fibula in three‐dimensional positioning after multiple osteotomies is desirable in complex spatial skeletal reconstruction. The fibula osteoseptocutaneous flap is suitable for one‐stage reconstruction of composite maxillary defects. The unique characteristics of the fibula osteoseptocutaneous flap and its application in the one‐stage composite maxillary defect are discussed. © 1994 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.

The fibula can be used as a donor for a free flap for mandible reconstruction. It has the advantages of low donor site morbidity, consistent shape, ample length, and distant location to enable a two-team approach, allowing multiple osteotomies because of its periosteal circulation. It can be raised
This study included 25 patients with lower limb tumors who had wide local resection and reconstruction by vascularized fibula osteoseptocutaneous flap, and who had their surgery performed at least 24 months before the end of the study. The average age at operation was 23.5 years. Twenty-three tumors
Background. In mandibular reconstruction with a fibula flap, 3-dimensional models are sometimes used but are not available to all plastic surgeons. To establish a simpler method, we performed a morphologic study of the mandible. Methods. Three-dimensional images of the mandible from 79 Japanese pat
## Abstract ## Objective/Hypothesis: To demonstrate that the osteocutaneous radial forearm free flap provides equivalent functional outcomes and improved morbidity compared to the fibular free flap in mandibular reconstruction. ## Study Design: Retrospective review. ## Methods: There were 168
Background. A variety of free flaps have been successfully used for mandible reconstruction. This study compared the short-and long-term results of using the free iliac crest and fibula flaps. Methods. We conducted a retrospective analysis of 117 patients who underwent mandibular reconstruction, 59
