โฆ Synopsis
Corrosion Behaviour of the Tool Steel of the Fuel Charge Machine During Cleaning Promas. (Conference Paper). On the basis of the referred data of corrosion rates, EDS analyses and corrosion morphology the following Observations can be drawn. Tool steel used in the FCM, in contact with environment similar to those existing during the cleaning with water, undergoes corrosion attacks that can be regarded as dangerous both from the point of View of the corrosion rate and of the morphology of the attack. The occurrence of those particular foms of corrosion can also explain the observed diflerences between electrochemical and weight loss measurements. As far as the deaning procedure of FCM is concerned, on the basis of the measured corrosion rates, it can be concluded that the cleaning with water in presence of COP is not recommendable. Minor problems could arise when performing the deaning in the presence of nitrogen, and this procedure could only be advised when it is necessary to substitute some parts of the machine.
