✦ Synopsis

Ferroelectnnty has been observed m hquid crystallme muttures of chiral smectic C type with a helical structure induced by choral guest molecules (pitch p = 100 pm). Samples of thtckness d < p form monodomams with ftite zero+?eld electric polarlzatlon because the spontaneous polarization of the smecttc layers is not compensated by the helical twst. The temperature dependence of the spontaneous polanzation has been studied near the phase transition smectic C -smectic A,

## Abstract Specific textures and their temperature transformations in large temperature interval for the chiral smectic C\* mesophase of new liquid crystalline materials, synthesized by our group, have been investigated in detail. Temperature dependences of the pitch of helical structure of the sm
