✦ Synopsis

Ultimate strength and endurance limits of a rotating circular disk of uniform thickness under torque are analytically determined. Let N he the number of cycles the disk is made to rotate at a certain angular velocity V, and under a given torque ?'. Au analytical expression is found that relates V and T to the number N that can cause the disk to fracture due to fatigue.

Fracture of ratating circular disk of uniform thickness due to fatigue has been studied through the use of the theory on fatigue fracture of brittle solids. The endurance and ultimate angular velocities for a disk of a given radius are determined. Furthermore, a relation between the peak angular vel

The ultimate strength and endurance limit for a spherical container under internal pressure have been analytically determined. In addition, the number of cycles that may cause fracture of the container due to fatigue is found as a function of the peak of the cyclic pressure, the inner and the outer
