✦ Synopsis

From experimental data on impedance, IR, Raman and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy it is shown that each lithium ion moves by "classical" hopping in Li3Sc2(PO4) 3 superionic crystals, i.e. the residence time rr is much greater than the time rf of flight. At the same time the charge transfer in the compound can be "effectively" described as the motion of Li-Li ion pairs with an intrapair ion distance equal to approximately the sum of the lithium ion radii.

A new series of isotypic monodiphosphates of general formula Li 9 M 3 (P 2 O 7 ) 3 (PO 4 ) 2 with M ‫؍‬ Al, Ga, Cr, Fe was synthesized by flux methods. The crystal structure of the aluminum and iron members is described here. They crystallize in the trigonal space group P3 c1 with a ‫؍‬ 9.553(1), c
