✦ Synopsis
The mass spectrometric behaviour of a series of new derivatives of Foscarnet was studied with fast-atom bombardment and collision-induced dissociation experiments in positive-and negative-ion modes. For the compounds esterified with a 2-(S-pivaloyl)thioethyl [tert-butyl)SATE] group a rearrangement of the thioester linkage with expulsion of 60 u dominates the fragmentation pattern.
