✦ Synopsis

It is with both sadness and pride that we step down as co-Editors of Movement Disorders and pass the reins on to our capable successors. Movement Disorders has matured and changed immensely during our tenure. This could not have happened without the strong support of our authors, readers and Society members, the many members of our Editorial Board, our tireless reviewers and the staff of our publishers, initially Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins and now Mary Todd, Jennifer English, and Shawn Morton of John Wiley and Sons. We especially thank our two Journal assistants, Loraine Adal and Jill Ockleford, without whose hard work and dedication the Journal would not be where it is today.

During the past 8 years we have seen a marked increase in the number of submissions and a recent successful move to monthly publication. Despite this and an increased rejection rate, we still have a longer than acceptable backlog of papers and the Movement Disorder Society has regularly allowed us to purchase additional pages to reduce delays to publication. Electronic publication is now a strong suit of the Journal. EarlyView permits immediate accessibility to accepted papers and with the turnover of the Editorial offices, electronic manuscript submission and review should speed the process considerably.

Video presentations are now available on our website and we will be transitioning the videotape supplements to DVD this year. Indeed, the DVD containing video supplements and accompanying written material provided through a technology grant from John Wiley and Sons over the past 2 years has been extremely well received and predicts an exciting future for this segment of the Journal.

We are proud of the quality of Movement Disorders.
